Blackhawks defenseman Alex Vlasic learning and adapting with first NHL experiences

Blackhawks rookie Alex Vlasic was glad not to hear from his cousin and San Jose Sharks defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic after their game last week.

His cousin probably wouldn’t have asked about it, but Vlasic in no terms wanted to even think about his individual performance, especially his no-look pass from the defensive zone that traveled directly to an opponent and led to a Sharks goal.

Vlasic sought to move on and his cousin helped him do that.

“I think he gave me some space,” Vlasic said. “He knew I was pretty upset with the way things went for my performance. But no, he didn’t reach out afterward, but I don’t know if I would’ve wanted him to.”
