Mia Winterkorn Commits to Middlebury College
Mission congratulates senior defenseman Mia Winterkorn on her commitment to Middlebury College.
Mia started playing hockey at age 6 and is in her 7th season with the Chicago Mission. She plays a smart physical game. Mia’s successes off the ice include membership in the National Honor Society, National Merit Semi-Finalist, and an AP Scholar with Distinction. On the ice she has made several USA Hockey National Development Camps (15s and 16s/17s). Her leadership skills have also earned her an Assistant Captain letter on the u19’s.
When reflecting on her youth hockey career, she said “My favorite Mission memory is winning the National Championship my first year of 14s. The Mission has had an immense impact on me; it has instilled values such as discipline and teamwork that I will carry with me the rest of my life. Being a part of this program has also given me the best role models to look up to and some of my closest friendships.”
When asked about Middlebury, “I chose Middlebury because of the incredible academic opportunities they offer while being able to play on a consistently competitive team.” Mia plans on attending law school after her undergrad.
