Knutson Commits to the College of St. Benedict

Chicago Mission congratulates senior goaltender Samantha Knutson on her commitment to the College of St. Benedict.

Sam began playing hockey when she was seven years old and has been with the Chicago Mission for 7 years. Her hockey highlights include a National Championship and 5 Illinois State Championships. Sam said “Mission has had a huge impact on my life. Growing up with the girls, still on the team today, has given us a sister bond that means the world to me. A memory that sticks with me, is when I was a u12 and my team got to skate with the u19’s for a night. The goalies were Abby Wieczorek and Annie Spring, I just remember that night being so much fun. I remember being so WOWed at how good they were, and hoping one day that would be me.

I love my mission family, for everything and everyone who has done so much over the years – it never goes unnoticed. I’m so grateful for it all and so glad that it has helped shape the person I am today.”

When asked about St Benedict’s, Sam replied, “I chose College of St Benedict because I wanted to put myself in a place that made my next 4 year’s feel like a home. The environment at the school was one that made me feel welcomed, and resources were all around me. I also wanted to play hockey for a coach that I could connect with, one that was open to knowing me and how I play. Minnesota felt so much like Chicago so I felt adjusting wouldn’t be hard at all.”
Sam will major in Secondary Education with an English minor. She hopes to teach 6th grade English.

Congratulations to the Knutson family!!!
